I’m not quite sure how I got so lucky with my recent finds, but I sure am doing some major happy dancing!
Life is good over here at the Thomas household. To keep ya’ll up to speed, I finally had that garage sale that only took me 3 weeks to prepare for and it was over in 2 days! I still haven’t gotten around to painting that other blind yet, but I still like the color:)
About the move…we still haven’t put our house up for sale, and I’m not sure we’re going to. There’s a part of us that wants to move, and then we find ourselves thinking about why we built our home in the first place.
The Shop. I’m so busy I can’t see straight! Julie, the owner, decided to do the retail which is great. Between doing some decorating in the store, painting custom jobs, and doing upholstery…I pretty much don’t have time to do anything else.
Now that your all caught up to speed, let’s talk about all these awesome recent finds I landed! Whoo-hoo!
Being at the shop, I have really awesome access to some pretty amazing stuff from time to time. For example, the pic above is a Bird’s Eye Maple Serpentine small chest. She might need some minor repair and a great paint job, but she’s got great potential don’t you think? And she was FREE:)
My new upholstered bench was whopping $6! Originally the legs were a bright yellow, and someone had upholstered the bench over the original upholstery. First thing in order was to strip all the upholstery off and then re-upholster it with muslin. I painted the legs ASCP old white, and then I began making my linen slip cover for it. It’s located in our front foyer area and I can’t wait until I’m finished with it:)
I can’t begin to tell you how long I have wanted one of these and I still hit the floor every time I think about how much I paid for it! One would think that I might’ve broke the bank, but this beauty cost me $15! I know, right?!
Our shop is adjacent to a resale shop so we look in the window EVERYDAY! You wouldn’t believe the items people bring into this place, and they donate every bit of it. Some day I hope to cover this beauty in a gorgeous Belgian Linen.
Three years ago my mother and I saw this same exact cabinet in a resale shop for $350, and yet somehow I find another one on Craig’s List for $50! The inside has glass shelves, and both the top and bottom have lighting. Originally we were going to use it in the Great Room but after you see the opposite wall, you’ll know why I changed my mind.
It’s big and beautiful and it was FREE! Well, maybe not entirely free.
I was offered this piece in exchange for upholstery services. Twelve dining room chairs before the holidays to be exact. I stripped them in 3 days and then they went to her daughter’s house to be painted and now the chairs are on their way back to me to be started this coming week.
Whew! Wish me luck:)
I do have another very special recent find to share with all of you, but I’m saving that for another time. Hope you all enjoying the fall time weather and getting ready for Turkey Day:)
